Petroleum Reservoir Simulation in a Virtual Environment

In this paper, we describe an approach to combining a reservoir simulation with 3-D visualization and virtual reality technology. Our prototype VR/visualization system minimizes human-machine interface barriers and provides enhanced control ●Lever 4.:-, ,1-+:AR LIIC allllulatwil, therebjj maximizing scientific judgment and use of intuition. We illustrate the practical advantage of using the VR/visualization prototype system in reservoir engineering by visualizing the results of a waterflood in an oil field ~~th a ?~r~~.~imnneinnai, s~~t~ai!~ cnrr~lated ,,, ,”,,”,”,, --. -.-.heterogeneous permeability field.
